Guidance
The TID Residential Heating and Cooling Rebate provides incentives ranging from $50 to $3000 for energy-efficient HVAC upgrades, including central systems, heat pumps, mini-splits, whole house fans, room A/Cs, and smart thermostats. To qualify, the installation must occur within the Turlock Irrigation District (TID) service area and meet specific equipment efficiency ratings.
Homeowner Tasks
- Verify TID service area eligibility
Ensure your residence is located within the Turlock Irrigation District (TID) service boundaries.
- Confirm existing air conditioning (for Whole House Fans)
If applying for a Whole House Fan rebate, ensure your home has an existing, active air conditioning system.
- Sign the rebate application
Provide your signature on the completed rebate application. If you are a renter, you must also obtain the property owner's signature.
- Retain copies of all documents
Keep a copy of all submitted documents and receipts for your records, as they will not be returned.
Contractor Tasks
- Verify central system capacity and efficiency
Ensure central systems have a cooling capacity under 65,000 BTUs (5.4 tons) and meet minimum efficiency ratings (Packaged >= 15 SEER, Split >= 15 SEER2).
- Verify ductless, room A/C, and thermostat efficiency
Ensure ductless mini-splits are ENERGY STAR certified (A/C) or >= 15 SEER (Heat Pump). Room A/Cs and smart thermostats must be ENERGY STAR certified.
- Provide a detailed invoice
Supply an invoice that clearly shows the brand, model number, and serial number of all newly installed equipment.
- Document gas line capping for G2E installations
If completing a Central Heat Pump Gas-to-Electric (G2E) upgrade, explicitly note the removal or capping of gas/propane lines on the invoice.
- Submit the application and proof of purchase
Submit the completed application, along with the detailed invoice/receipt, through the online portal (rebates.tid.org) or by mail to the TID Conservation Department.
