Guidance

The Turlock Irrigation District (TID) offers residential rebates ranging from $35 to $500 for upgrading to eligible energy-efficient appliances, including heat pump water heaters, induction stovetops, refrigerators, clothes washers, and dryers. To qualify, the new unit must be installed and operating in a residence within the TID service area.

Homeowner Tasks

  • Confirm your residence is located within the TID Service Area.

This is a strict requirement for eligibility.

  • Verify your home has an electric dryer if applying for the ENERGY STAR Clothes Dryer rebate.

Gas dryers do not qualify for the matching electric dryer requirement.

  • Provide a copy of the purchase receipt or invoice.

The receipt must clearly reference the purchase date and the specific unit model number.

  • Submit the completed application and supporting documents.

Apply online at rebates.tid.org or mail the application to TID Smart Energy Programs, P.O. Box 949, Turlock, CA 95381.

Contractor Tasks

  • Take pre-installation photos of the existing equipment before removal.

This is required to prove the replacement of existing units like refrigerators or storage water heaters.

  • Verify the new equipment meets specific size and efficiency requirements.

Refrigerators must be ≥ 14.0 cu. ft., HPWH must have an EF factor ≥ 2.0, and Induction cooktops/ranges must be ≥ 30 inches wide.

  • Ensure Heat Pump Water Heaters are installed in an unconditioned space.

The unit must be installed outside the air-conditioned living space, such as an attic, garage, crawlspace, or unheated basement.

  • Take post-installation photos of the newly installed unit.

A photo of the installed unit is explicitly required for the submission.

  • Provide proof of the Energy Guide with the ENERGY STAR logo.

This is required for the clothes washer, clothes dryer, refrigerator, and heat pump water heater rebates.

Rebate applications must be received within six (6) months of the product purchase date.
Heat Pump Water Heater rebates are limited to one (1) per qualified unit per household within a 15-year period.
For induction stovetop rebates, both standalone cooktops and ranges with built-in induction cooktops are eligible. Keep in mind induction cooktops require compatible cookware.
