SoCalGas Home Energy Efficiency Rebate (HEER) Program
Rebate amounts vary by appliance: Clothes Dryer ($70), Fireplace Insert ($300-$500), Tankless Water Heater ($80-$1,500), Storage Water Heater ($300-$575), Freestanding Oven ($120), Patio Heater ($400), Pool Heater ($600-$1,500), Wall Oven ($500), Solar Thermal ($2,500-$5,000). Furnaces are rebated at $1.40-$25 per kBtuh depending on AFUE tier. Customers impacted by specific 2025 wildfires are eligible for a 50% rebate bonus and additional incentives for Smart Thermostats ($75) and Attic/Wall Insulation ($1.45-$3.00/sqft). Rebate amount cannot exceed purchase price.

Guidance
SoCalGas offers rebates ranging from $70 to $1,300 for the installation of qualifying energy-efficient natural gas appliances, including furnaces, water heaters, and fireplace inserts. To qualify, equipment must be new and installed in an existing, fully constructed residential property with an active SoCalGas account.
Homeowner Tasks
- Provide a copy of your current SoCalGas utility bill
Acceptable formats include a PDF, image, or screenshot of the bill.
- Sign and date the rebate application form
The account holder, authorized spouse, or property owner must sign the application.
- Provide proof of property ownership if the installation is in a rental home
If you are the property owner but do not live there, provide a property tax bill, deed, mortgage, or homeowners insurance statement matching the install address.
Contractor Tasks
- Install qualifying equipment prior to application submission
Equipment must be fully functional and meet the specific energy-efficiency tiers required by SoCalGas.
- Provide an itemized, paid-in-full invoice
The invoice must include the contractor's contact info, equipment make and model, purchase price per product, install date, and indicate it is 'Paid in Full'.
- Take a photo of the new equipment's make/model plate
Ensure the manufacturer information and model number are clearly visible.
- Provide proof of permit closure where applicable
Proof of permit closure is required for certain installations, such as natural gas furnaces, storage tanks, and tankless water heaters.
- Complete all Install Info questions
Provide the necessary equipment specifications and dates as required by the application.
Qualification

Standard rebates do not require income qualification. However, the Energy Savings Assistance Program offers no-cost home improvements and the CARE program offers a 20% monthly bill discount for income-qualified customers. Details available at socalgas.com/Assistance.

How to Submit
Install qualifying energy-efficient natural gas equipment in an existing residential property.
