Guidance

The City of Azusa (Azusa Light & Water) offers residential rebates ranging from $20 to $6,000 for energy-efficient equipment, including central air conditioners and heat pumps. Eligible systems must meet specific SEER2 tier requirements and be installed in existing homes.

Homeowner Tasks

  • Provide your Azusa Light & Water account number

    Your active utility account number is required to process the application.

  • Provide your Tax Payer ID or SSN

    This is only required if your total rebate amount will be $600 or more.

  • Sign and date the Participant Agreement

    Your signature is required on the final page of the rebate application form to agree to the program terms.

Contractor Tasks

  • Provide a detailed, itemized invoice

    The invoice must clearly show the purchase date (within the last 6 months), model number, actual purchase price (excluding taxes and recycling fees), SEER2 rating, and equipment tonnage.

  • Take photos of the equipment packaging

    Provide photos of the original packaging that clearly show the ENERGY STAR® logo or product Efficiency Rating.

  • Ensure equipment meets SEER2 requirements

    Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps must meet the minimum SEER2 rating tiers (starting at 14.3 SEER2) to qualify for per-ton or flat-rate incentives.

  • Obtain necessary building permits

    City of Azusa permits may be required for the installation. Contact the Building Division at 626-812-5234 to verify requirements.

Purchases and installations must have been completed within the last 6 months to be eligible for the rebate.
New construction and mobile homes are strictly ineligible for Central Air Conditioning and Heat Pump rebates.
For residential customers, rebates are not issued as a physical check; they will be applied directly as a credit to the homeowner's electric utility account on or after the next billing cycle.
Applications and supporting documents can be submitted via email to rebates@azusaca.gov or mailed to the Azusa Light & Water office.
