NREN Heat Pump Water Heater Rebates
Standard / enhanced tiers: $800 / $1,000 when replacing an electric resistance water heater; $1,000 / $1,500 when replacing a natural gas water heater. Enhanced tier is for income-qualified customers (CARE, FERA, LIHEAP, WIC, CalFresh and similar) or any Lake County site. Propane replacements are not eligible (CPUC restriction). Gas-replacement deadline: to receive the current amounts, units replacing a natural gas water heater must be purchased and installed before October 6, 2026, with the application received within 90 days of installation and no later than January 6, 2027. UEF must be at least 2.75 (120 V) or 3.30 (240 V). First-come, first-served while funding lasts.
Rebate supports heat pump water heater installations with incentive amounts ranging from $500-$1,500.

Homeowner Tasks

- Submit building permit information
Provide the water heater permit number and permit open date, or upload a copy of the building permit.

Submit all required installation specifics for the new heat pump water heater.
