The South Coast AQMD Replace Your Ride program offers residents up to $12,000 to trade in an older, high-polluting vehicle for a qualifying clean vehicle. Eligible replacements include EVs, Plug-In Hybrids, Fuel Cell vehicles, and e-Bikes.

Homeowner Tasks

  • Confirm South Coast AQMD residency

    You must verify that you are a resident of the South Coast AQMD territory to qualify.

  • Verify income eligibility

    Ensure your household meets the specific income requirements for the program by checking www.replaceyourride.com.

  • Submit the program application

    Apply for the incentive online at www.replaceyourride.com or by calling (844) 797-2223.

  • Trade in your existing vehicle

    You must trade in an older, high-polluting vehicle to receive the incentive.

Contractor Tasks

  • Provide a qualifying replacement vehicle

    Ensure the replacement vehicle purchased is an EV, Plug-In Hybrid, Fuel Cell vehicle, or e-Bike.

  • Process the trade-in vehicle

    Verify and accept the trade-in of the older, high-polluting vehicle as part of the transaction.

Income qualification is strictly required for this program. Applications will be disqualified if household income requirements are not met.
You must trade in an older, high-polluting vehicle; purchasing a new vehicle without a qualifying trade-in will result in disqualification.

Qualification

  • Income-qualified

    Household income must be at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). For 2025-2026: 1 person: $46,950; 2: $63,450; 3: $79,950; 4: $96,450; 5: $112,950. Add $16,500 per additional person.

  • Pre-approval required
  • Fuel switching required

    Replace a 2010 or older gasoline or diesel vehicle with a newer Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), Battery Electric (BEV), Fuel Cell (FCEV) vehicle, or e-bike/transit pass.
