Guidance

This program offers a $1,500 electric bill credit for installing a qualifying ENERGY STAR certified air source heat pump (under 3 tons). It is available for retrofit installations only and requires a control system configured for backup heat.

Homeowner Tasks

  • Confirm active electric service with Colorado Springs Utilities

    Since the rebate is issued as an electric bill credit, you must have an active residential electric account.

  • Sign the rebate application

    Review and sign the completed application form before it is submitted.

Contractor Tasks

  • Install a qualifying ENERGY STAR certified heat pump

    The installed heat pump must be an ENERGY STAR certified unit with a capacity of under 3 tons.

  • Configure a backup heat control system

    Ensure a control system is in place and programmed to switch to backup heat at a defined switchover temperature.

  • Provide a detailed invoice

    Provide a final invoice showing the installation details, equipment information, and costs.

  • Submit the application and documentation

    Email the completed application and invoice to products@csu.org or mail to the Colorado Springs Utilities Efficiency Rebates PO Box.

All claims must be submitted before the claim deadline on January 31, 2027.
This rebate applies strictly to retrofit installations. New construction projects are not eligible.
The rebate is fulfilled as a credit on the customer's utility bill rather than a direct check.

How to Submit
