Guidance

This rebate helps offset the costs of purchasing a Level 2 EV charger and upgrading your home's associated wiring. It is available to active Xcel Energy Colorado residential customers living in single-family or multi-family homes. Rebate amounts range from $500 up to $2,300 for income-qualified customers.

Homeowner Tasks

  • Pre-enroll in an eligible Xcel Energy EV charging program

    You must enroll in either 'EV Accelerate at Home' or 'Optimize Your Charge' to qualify for this rebate.

  • Provide proof of active Xcel Energy service

    Confirm you receive residential electric service from Xcel Energy in Colorado.

  • Verify your income or community status

    If applying for the higher rebate tiers ($800 or $2,300), you must provide documentation proving you are an Income-Qualified customer or a resident of a Disproportionately Impacted Community (DIC).

Contractor Tasks

  • Install a Level 2 EV charger

    Ensure the customer purchases and has a Level 2 EV charger installed.

  • Complete required home wiring upgrades

    Perform the necessary electrical wiring upgrades to support the new Level 2 charger.

  • Submit proof of installation

    Provide a detailed invoice and proof of installation for both the Level 2 charger and the wiring upgrades.

Pre-enrollment in an eligible Xcel Energy EV charging program is strictly required before receiving this rebate.
Only single-family and multi-family homes are eligible for this program. Other property types will be disqualified.
Rebate amounts vary by status: Standard customers receive up to $500, Disproportionately Impacted Community (DIC) residents receive up to $800, and Income-Qualified customers receive up to $2,300.

  • Has income-qualified portion

    Household income must be at or below 80% of Area Median Income (AMI), 60% of State Median Income (SMI), or 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Customers already enrolled in LEAP or WAP also qualify. Standard customers: up to $500; DIC: up to $800; IQ: up to $2,300.
