Guidance

The TID Residential Heating and Cooling Rebate offers $50 to $3,000 for energy-efficient HVAC upgrades, including heat pumps, central AC units, ductless mini-splits, whole house fans, and smart thermostats. Applicants must be active residential customers of the Turlock Irrigation District (TID).

Homeowner Tasks

  • Confirm active TID utility service

    Ensure the property receives electric service from Turlock Irrigation District and is a single-family, multi-family, or mobile home.

  • Verify past rebate history

    Confirm the property has not exceeded program frequency limits (e.g., 2 central units per 23 years, or 2 smart thermostats per 9 years).

  • Sign the rebate application

    Provide a signed rebate application. If you are a renter, the property owner must sign the application.

  • Confirm existing AC for Whole House Fan

    If applying for a Whole House Fan rebate, verify that the residence currently has an active central air conditioning system.

Contractor Tasks

  • Install qualifying high-efficiency equipment

    Ensure central split systems meet SEER2 >= 15, and central packaged systems meet SEER >= 15. Ductless heat pumps must be SEER >= 15. Ductless ACs, room ACs, and smart thermostats must be ENERGY STAR certified.

  • Provide a detailed itemized invoice

    The invoice must clearly show the brand, model number, and serial number of the newly installed equipment.

  • Document Gas-to-Electric (G2E) conversions

    For G2E rebates, the invoice must explicitly show the removal or capping of gas/propane lines and the installation of the electric connection.

  • Submit application and documentation

    Submit the completed application and required documents online at rebates.tid.org or by mail to TID within six months of the purchase date.

Applications must be received within six months of the purchase date to be eligible.
Strict lifetime limits apply per property: maximum of 2 central systems per 23-year useful life, or 4 ductless systems (up to 5 tons) per 23 years.
Rebates of $300 or less are credited directly to the customer's TID utility bill. Rebates over $300 are paid by check.
