Flex Batteries Enhanced Incentives

Rebate amount
$5,000 - $10,000
Your qualifying range
$5,000 – $10,000

Pathway A (limited income, PSE Bill Discount Program, a registered medical device, a community-organization referral, or a housing provider for a qualified tenant): up to $10,000 or 100% of eligible equipment and installation costs. Pathway B (customers on specific parts of PSE's grid with reliability concerns; confirm at der@pse.com): up to $5,000 or 100% of eligible costs. Paid as a reduced upfront price: the Recommended Energy Professional applies before purchase and PSE reimburses the installer. Stacks with the Flex Batteries enrollment incentive ($75/kWh up to $1,000). First-time battery installations only. PSE notes a basic system starts at $15,000 and the enhanced incentive will not cover the entire system cost.

PSE pays up to $10,000 (income-qualified, Pathway A) or up to $5,000 (specific grid areas, Pathway B) toward a first home battery's equipment and installation, as a reduced price from a Recommended Energy Professional who applies before purchase.

Guidance

PSE's Flex Batteries Enhanced Incentives lower the upfront price of a first home battery: up to $10,000 for Pathway A households (income, Bill Discount Program, medical device or community-organization referral) and up to $5,000 for Pathway B homes on specific parts of PSE's grid. The installer, a PSE Recommended Energy Professional, applies before purchase and PSE reimburses the installer. It stacks with the Flex Batteries enrollment incentive.

Homeowner Tasks

  • Check eligibility

Use PSE's income tool, or gather Bill Discount Program, medical device or community-organization referral proof; for Pathway B, email der@pse.com.

  • Enroll the battery in Flex Batteries

After installation and interconnection, enroll to receive the $75/kWh enrollment incentive.

Contractor Tasks

  • Apply before purchase

Submit the eligibility documents and application to PSE as a Recommended Energy Professional before buying or installing the battery.

  • Price the job net of the incentive

The customer sees a reduced upfront price; PSE reimburses the installer.

  • Interconnect with PSE

The battery must have a PSE interconnection agreement and be online before Flex enrollment.

The installer must apply and get approval before the battery is purchased and installed.
Not for every customer: a market-rate household outside Pathway B gets only the Flex Batteries enrollment incentive ($75/kWh up to $1,000).
PSE says a basic system starts at $15,000 and the enhanced incentive will not cover the entire system cost.

Qualification

  • Has income-qualified portion

Pathway A: monthly household income under PSE's county limits (PSE's online income check), enrollment in PSE's Bill Discount Program, a medical device registered with PSE, a referral letter from a community-based organization, or a housing provider applying for a qualified future tenant. Pathway B is not income-based: it is for customers on specific parts of PSE's grid with reliability concerns (der@pse.com).
